Done done

When is something done? We tend to call something done when our part in it is done, or when we have done the bulk of the work. But something is only really done (or like I call it “done-done”) when there is external validation that it is done. This can be a test suite that is passing or a customer being satisfied with a new feature.

As a simple example take this post. It is not done when I have written it. It is only done when I have checked it in, pushed it to the Jekyll generator and I have checked that it is visible on a different computer than the one I have written it.

It has happened more than once that I somehow botched the publication. Or found another typo. Published the wrong post.

So, hopefully this post is not only done, but done-done in a couple of minutes.
