Work in progress (WIP)

When you have started working on something, it is still on your mind and it is not completed, then it is work in progress – or work-in-progress or most often just WIP. But does it mean it is currently worked on? If we think of a tape recorder then we can use the Play–Pause/Resume–Stop analogy. Once you have pressed Play it’s work-in-progress until we hit Stop, independent how often we have pressed Pause/Resume in between.
